All you need to know about insuring fine art on superyachts

The year is 2011. Game Of Thrones has premiered, Osama Bin Laden has been killed by American forces and Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and a Half Men. I’ve just started university in Bristol and have gone to sample a few of the pubs in the Stokes Croft area. I sit in the front beer garden of the Canteen pub waiting for one of my new house mates to arrive and look up, “the Mild Mild West”. “Excuse me” I ask one of the workers, “what is that?”, in the strongest possible Bristolian accent, he responded “well that’s Banksy mate.” Fast forward to 2022. I’ve worked in the Insurance industry for around 7 years working in various different roles and positions starting as a call centre renewals advisor to being assistant branch manager for a high street broker. The job role as a Client Manager came available with Samuel at Saxon Insurance Brokers, it was a far too good of an opportunity to not go for, I applied and landed the job! Insuring Private Clients with high value assets is what I’ve always wanted to be a master at. I’ve learnt my trade through the years and spoken and helped just about every class of individual, business and asset you can think of. The one commodity I am most looking forward to insure, however, are original Banksy pieces. Ever since I first looked up at that mural just off Jamaica Street I have been obsessed with anything and everything Banksy related. Until now I’d not had the opportunity of being able to talk and insure any Banksy’s because we simply didn’t insure fine art at my previous broker. Within my first week in our brand new office in Reading I’ve been working with a long term Saxon client who’s renewed their policy with three original Banksy pieces totalling around £2,800,000.
